An independent research centre founded in 1991, the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) is the largest and best-equipped research centre in Belgium in the fields of energy, the environment and advanced materials. In 2014, 644 highly skilled employees (over 50 % graduates, engineers and PhDs) work at VITO in state-of-the-art laboratories.
