Salary
The combination of high pay and relatively inexpensive
living costs makes Flanders a great place to be.
Living in Belgium costs roughly the same as in most
Western European countries, being just above the
average for the EU-15 and level pegging with both
the Netherlands and France.
In Flanders, rents, childcare costs, education and
healthcare are all eminently affordable compared
with other countries. And our subsidised social security
system leaves families with enough of their gross income
at the end of the month.
“It boils down to the same thing, because what doesn’t end up in your pocket goes towards the education system, hospitals, public transport, etc., so at the end of the day you’re just as well off.”
