Rights
With the European Charter for Researchers and the
Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers,
the European Commission created a framework
designed to make careers in research more attractive.
The Code of Conduct sets out guidelines for the
recruitment and appointment of researchers.
The Charter specifies the roles, responsibilities and
entitlements of researchers and their employers. It
also sets out recommendations aimed at ensuring the
application of certain key principles, like freedom of
research, gender balance, opportunities for professiona
l development, non-discrimination and the value of mobility.
For more details, see the section entitled Charter and Code.
